A bloody cartel war rages just miles from the Texas border.

The United States’ Consulate in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico had to shut down after violence broke out following the arrest of leading cartel figure Juan Gerardo Treviño Chavez, also known as “El Huevo.”

Chavez was “turned over to U.S. officials in San Diego on Tuesday on federal charges filed in an indictment issued in San Antonio,” according to Border Report.
